The Playhouse Company, situated in Durban is looking to fill the position of HOD: Marketing with a suitably qualified individual who has proven capabilities in managing a Marketing Department. The suitable incumbent will report to the Arts Manager.

Attainment of targets linked to the undermentioned Key Performance Areas will ultimately determine the success of any prospective candidate in the position;

  • Devise and Implement a marketing strategy to assist in broadening the reach through growth in the number of Artists involved, and the audiences attending performances.
  • Implementing Marketing activities to ensure strengthening of The Playhouse Company brand and marketing of in-house productions.
  • Targeting marketing interventions to develop future audiences and build performing arts appreciation.
  • Devise and manage the yearly Marketing, Stakeholder Management, Audience Development Plan.
  • Compilation of yearly, quarterly, monthly reports; production programmes; press release for online platforms, radio, TV and print media;
  • Manage and lead the marketing team towards the attainment of all business and Marketing objectives.
  • Manage the performance of all marketing channels.
  • Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets for the Marketing department.
  • Oversees the production of all promotional materials (print and electronic) and marketing campaigns to ensure that there is growth in the number of audiences attending performances and that the Company’s brand is extended.
  •  Ensure that various marketing platforms are utilized to promote the Company’s Artistic programmes timeously and efficiently

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be in possession of a Diploma/Degree in Marketing or a related qualification
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar Marketing role with Managerial experience
  • Excellent computer literacy and excellent writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and strong report writing and presentation skills.
  •  Proven leadership skills aligned with excellent project management and financial management skills.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels.
  •  A proficient working knowledge of Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and SCM policy framework.
